About The Artwork

I painted this picture on a cloudy day in Elmelund on the Danish island of Ærø. It shows the view of the bay with its bright turquoise/blue water. In the foreground, yellow flowers stand out between round granite stones in shades of gray, ochre and pink. The green trees reach down to the beach. I have captured the September light impressionistically. My brushstroke is expressive, the application of paint impasto. For me, the picture radiates peace and space. While painting, I enjoyed the soft colors of the Baltic Sea landscape. The painting is created on a 2 cm thick wooden box. The edges are white. The suspension consists of a steel cable. The picture can be hung directly. My signature is on the front.

Ute Meyer, born December 1957 visual artist since 1999 studio in Flensburg "Painting is an expression of my joy of life and my curiosity to discover." My painting reflects my zest for life and my constant curiosity for discovery. I particularly focus on plein air painting, whether in my own garden or on the picturesque coastline of the Danish Baltic Sea. Over the years, I have developed an working method outdoors that allows me to complete large-scale canvases in a single pass, capturing the unique mood of the day. The constantly changing weather conditions and the play of light influence my painting process, slowing it down or speeding it up. Other series of works are created in the studio, including macro studies of the beach and depictions of people and animals in the landscape. In my abstract painting, experiences from my daily life serve as starting points. I use various means of expression such as oil on canvas or wood, pen and wash drawings and watercolors.
