I am a New York City artist specializing in representational oil painting. My formal art training is from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, from which I hold a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree, and from the Art Students League of NY, from which I hold a 4-Year Certificate in Painting. My primary subject is the figure and portraiture, but my work also includes still-lifes and landscapes. I paint mostly from life. My work has garnered numerous awards from the professional groups which host the many exhibitions in which I regularly participate. These include the Gold Medal in Painting from Audubon Artists Assn; the Newington Best in Show Award from the American Artists Professional League; the Newington Award for Excellence in Oil Painting from the Hudson Valley Art Association; the Salmagundi Award from the Ridgewood Art Institute; the Honorary Gary T. Erbe Award from the Audubon Artists Assn.; and the Best in Show Award from the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Association. I am also the recipient of the prestigious Gonzalez-Edwards 4-month travel grant to Spain from the Art Students League or NY. In addition to exhibiting in annual shows, I also show regularly at Gallery35 and at the Salmagundi Club, both in Manhattan. I had a solo show at Gallery35 in 2014 and will be in another one in 2018 with a second artist. I am a member of the Abingdon Square Painters with whom I share a workspace in Long Island City, NY. I teach a Drawing and Painting class at the Ridgewood Art Institute in Ridgewood, NJ. My work can be found in numerous private and public collections in the US and abroad. www.perezrick.weebly.com
