About The Artwork

Drytown is the oldest town in Amador County, California. In the early 1800s Drytown was the home to hundreds of easterners who had come west with dreams of making it rich in the California Gold Rush. I loved painting this little lane with the majestic trees protecting the simple tin roofed cottage. Perhaps a gold miner celebrated his rich claim in that very cottage.

Steve Holler is a Northern California artist. His images are representational in nature depicting every day scenes and objects that are part of his life experience. He strives to broaden the viewer’s visual perspective, and appreciation, by providing a unique interpretation in bold color, descriptive light and compositional form. Steve Holler has enjoyed a successful career in corporate design and brand development. Now a full-time fine artist and faculty member of The Art Institute of California–Sacramento, Steve enjoys connecting with his audience through the sharing of visual experiences. Painting in acrylic on canvas and drawing using graphite and dry color media Steve interprets his subjects in a combined style of realism and expressionism. Referencing his design background, Steve’s compositions are created to guide the viewer’s understanding of the subject yet allowing their personal interpretation and emotion determine the final visual experience. Saturated color, bold brushwork, refined and spontaneous image interpretation bring a timely modernity to Steve Holler’s art. Mr. Holler lives with his wife Jeannie in Rancho Murieta, California and on the Sonoma County coast at The Sea Ranch, California.
