Hank Yaghooti is an American contemporary mixed media painter born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Using comics, occult books and photographs as a source of reference, he employs oil, acrylic and watercolor along with other mediums on paper, wood or canvas in his technique. Yaghooti pursued art education early on while in elementary school, and followed through on his endeavors completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design with a concentration in Illustration from New Jersey City University in 2000. Most recently he has experimented with mono-typing, stencils and spray paint bringing about the evolution of his work. Influenced by European painters and contemporary American illustrators alike, he counts Francis Bacon, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Alex Grey, and Egon Schiele as some of his prominent influences. Over the last ten years, his work has been exhibited throughout New York and New Jersey and has been featured in publications, both print and online. Yaghooti has self-published two books, "Black Lines In A White World” (2008) and “Chameleon” (2015), which highlight his drawings and paintings respectively. When he is not in the midst of creating visual wonderment you can find him drumming or creating time-lapse art videos on his YouTube Channel.
