This painting is inspired by the work of Dulcie Wagstaff. The main attraction to Wagstaff's work was the amazing sense of light. I feel as if the joy Wagstaff encounters in her gardening filters not only through the plants but through the light also. The images in Wagstaff's series are sensitively shown with light that gently touches the plants and trees. Light is continually present within my own work, whether it be artificially heightened with neon, flooding the cities or the natural light that never ceases to amaze me. The light is what gives joy in times of inner darkness for even in the darkness you can find the light.
