About The Artwork
Partially inspired by the myth, Cantre'r Gwaelod, the painting reveals the remnants of an ancient forest on Borth Beach in Mid-Wales. The disfigured, 4000-year-old trunks are only visible at low tide, giving a sense of awakening figures that also reflect ghost-like silhouettes of soldiers from WWI. I would like the audience to see how the landscape can reflect both legend and historical fact, hence the distortion of the trunks and interconnecting elements.
