www.arnelsarmiento.com I am Arnel Sarmiento, a Civil Engineer by Education, but an artist by heart. I try to keep my colors to a minimum--using three (3) cool and three (3) warm primaries. I apply the principle of split-complimentary and triadic color schemes as much as I can for all of my paintings in all mediums. I like the transparency and numerous qualities of watercolors. I use it in portraits, landscapes, flowers, and figure paintings. Although handling watercolor is quite harder than acrylic or oil paints, it gives me the satisfaction of painting different subjects in a very short period of time. I find oil to be a respectable medium. I use it in portraits, figures and open-air type paintings. Due to its slow drying qualities, I find it easier to add and blend colors directly on the canvas. I feel that acrylic paint is good for painting outside of the studio. It dries very quickly, like watercolor, but with a texture that I enjoy for flower and abstract paintings. I feel blessed and honored to be an artist. I have had the privilege of putting down on paper my thoughts, inspirations, and the beautiful sceneries that God has given us. My artworks have been featured in Nursing, The Finest Art: An Illustrated History, 3rd Edition Hardcover – March 26, 2010 by M. Patricia Donahue PhD RN FAAN This book can be purchased at this link: http://www.amazon.com/Nursing-The-Finest-Art-Illustrated/dp/032305305X I have also written a book on arts that illustrate my style and my use of color combination.
