About The Artwork
This painting is a continuation of my series "The Colors of Mexico". I find so much inspiration on my travels there because things are disorganized, random, instinctively beautiful. Even what would be considered poverty is embellished everywhere with colors and shapes that celebrate the everyday joys of life; brief moments that help us reflect on how shallow materialistic ideals are. Magic is made with inexpensive materials transformed by human hands into art that lifts the human spirit and is distinct from the cheap, mass produced gray world of industrialized countries; the sharp black geometry of our desks. It is a protest of the human heart expressing joy with no words needed. I hope the viewer will be able to get back in touch with this simplicity of thought every time they look at the artwork.
