In Yoeme (Yaqui) belief , The ascred Maaso (Deer Dancer) comes from the Sewa Ania (Flower World). As the Deer Dancer gets ready to put on the Maaso Kova (Deer Head), he says a special prayer and then the spirit of that deer who gave his life for the Sacred dance to continue forever whith the Yaqui enters from the Flower World into the body and transforms him into the spirit of that deer.....Can you see what else is in this image???

An enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe raised on the reservation in Tucson, Az. Rene was mainly raised by his Yaqui elders and learned and practices Yaqui traditions and ceremonies. Rene is a self-taught artist and works with all sorts of media, including pottery and gourd work. He participates in many community events and art shows in many areas as a demonstrator and vendor. Rene dedicates his life to Yoeme (Yaqui) art and is inspired by educating the world about Yaqui culture and beliefs....
