www.kenfarrar.ca Ken Farrar's artistic accomplishments in phosphorescent acrylic have been shown in Kamloops, across British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The subjects of his painting vary from local landscapes, wildlife and the pristine landscapes of the north "My paintings are unique as they self illuminate in the dark. I achieved this result by developing a process of adding phosphorescent components to acrylic paint." It took several years for Farrar to develop this process, which allows his paintings to appear bright in darkness. Farrar utilities this medium painting the northern lights, sunsets and seascapes. "One of a painter's central concerns is light and how to express it on canvas. I have always believed that if one could refine a technique by coaxing more light from within the canvas, a new and wonderful painting style would surely evolve," says Farrar. One can see this artist's love for light. Farrar also paints brilliant landscapes in oils and acrylics that speak about the beautiful area in which we live "My method of painting is far from traditional. However, it is of the utmost importance that my paintings retain a traditional look and feel, and that they fulfill my thoughts and inspirations," says Farrar. "My style of painting reflects my passion for the outdoors, particularly the early morning and late day sun." www.kenfarrar.ca
