About The Artwork
Inspired by the work of Poe, this is one of many studies I created depicting ravens. My intent with this piece was to capture the bird's character and that moment frozen in time just before he flew away. In my work here, I am trying to use minimal, but strong brush marks to express the personality and movement of the bird. I've used subtle tones of blue, purple and green to create the blacks in his feathers, with some small but effective highlights to pull out his features. This piece is one of my favorite studies from my collection, as I feel I've portrayed the bird's inquisitiveness and attitude.

I was a resident artist at The Loft Gallery & Studios, San Pedro, CA until Covid-19 lock down. I have been working as an artist since before graduating high school, but my love of fine art painting began in 1991 at Long Road College, Cambridge, UK, under the direction of painter Andy Crocker, my inspiration.
