This is a layered composition in acrylic paint and Krink paint markers on unprimed heavy weight canvas wrapped around premium gallery depth stretcher bars. I paint the canvas while it is loose on my painting table and then stretch it afterwards, so the composition extends around the edges of the painting. I start with unprimed canvas which I spray with water before applying the first layer of high flow acrylic paint. This technique pulls the pigment into the canvas and creates a sort of died effect with delicate gradients while maintaining the texture and tooth of the canvas. After this first layer is dry I apply several layers of painting and drawing with several different types of acrylic with little doodles in Sharpie. Dripping effects are achieved by draping portions of the canvas over the side of the painting table at specific moments and for controlled periods of time. The top most layer is done with acrylic pouring medium poured directly onto the canvas and pushed around with a silicone spatula tool. Into this I drip different paints which interact with the medium and each other to produce interesting effects.
