I just finished these cyanotypes February 2021. Each piece is 22"x30" on Arches paper and is titled "Something To Crow About I" and "Something To Crow About II." ©2021 Zasloff. The color was inspired by the metallic gleam of the ever present crows in my neighborhood. The Series consists of two works. I'd tried doing cyanotypes before, but usually worked in a more controlled manner because I believed structure was more in keeping with the process. But after thinking about the process, I decided to incorporate just plain fun and work much more spontaneously and intuitively, letting the brushwork and the sun do the work. I always love the textural surprises and the light and dark subtle patterns that show up. The sun's participation is always exciting to me. I've listed the medium as watercolor or ink because the choice of cyanotype wasn't an available, but these works are classic cyanotypes. Prints are also available. Most notable about these works, apart from the engaging quality of the powerful brushstrokes, is the rich color depth of the marine blue which is the classic cyanotype color. I hope you will find these pieces compelling, powerfully expressionistic and richly hued.

For me, painting is always about color, visual communication and searching for the unique or unexpected. My style emphasizes color and shape relationships, textural surfaces and enjoying the accidental and the spontaneous. I work with conventional media using acrylic on canvas and watercolor on paper. I also create artworks digitally using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. Always, I feel the overriding desire to speak sweetly, yet boldly, in the realm of visual communication using color and shape, imagination and surprise, spontaneity and the accidental to create a "magical reality" for the viewer.
