VIEW IN MY ROOM
The gloomy interior of a gambling hall with the usual gambling machines standing against the wall is portrayed with a decadent group of people engaging in a dinner party as an everyday recognizable occurrence. Interpreters are forced to make multiple speculations about the ambiguous meaning of this metaphorical expression. The reference I used was of a dinner we had 2 years ago and that day I saw the dinner scene and formulated the idea of "The golden hour" title related to the time of day. Also, that day we discussed topics like a Hotline in emergencies "red telephone" and I made a connection between the photographic term in relation to the period of time following a traumatic injury also known as the 'golden hour'. In the painting both ideas are relevant and applies to the dinner feast being either traumatic or an emergency. This tension is then in contrast to the usual dinner celebration atmosphere, thus creating some conjecture for the viewer's understanding and promoting ambiguous interpretation strategies to get the viewer to improvise the scant data implied and find their own interpretation of the "truth" (hopefully their own unidealized meaning)
