This series was created as a response to my interest in the lines, shapes, spaces and compositions that are naturally created by trees. I have manipulated and distorted various artistic elements in order to create images that allow a viewer to come to their own aesthetic conclusions. By removing all texture and value, flattening the space, turning all forms into solid geometric shapes and altering the colors I allow the images to become something new. The colors, shapes and lines are bold, saturated and graphic. Positive and negative spaces can, at times, appear to switch roles. What once was a tree might now become an aerial map, cracks in a surface, pieces of cut paper, fireworks, stained glass, a mosaic, etc. These images encourage personal interpretation.
