About The Artwork
When I was young, I loved the karst hills in Chinese paintings. I always thought the hills were exaggerated, but then I came to this area in Vietnam. They aren't stylizations; they really look that way. I stayed across the lake from this bright yellow hotel near the town of Ninh Binh. The contrast with the green karst hills struck me, and I fell in love with the yellow reflection and bright pink water lilies in the black waters of the lake.
