About The Artwork

The Angkor Wat temple complex was abandoned for centuries and became overgrown in a spectacular way. These stone carvings from a frieze that encircled a large building. Such an incredible amount of work on what amounts to a tiny, almost insignificant part of a huge temple complex which covers a vast area. Printed on Canson Photographique Baryta paper using the highest quality archival inks which renders black and white in very much the same way that traditional wet process photographic paper does. Image size is 42 x 28 cms. Signed, numbered, titled and dated on the reverse.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
