Still Life photography of Hydrangea in vase on table with a bowl of grapes. Flowers have been a subject of mine for a while. This time I was inspired by the maroon of the flowers. Colours and materials were purposefully chosen to be slightly reminiscent of old Dutch 17th century oil paintings. This was done to express the timelessness of humans' fascination and love for flowers. This is a limited signed edition of 10 images at this size and with this crop - there will be another edition of 10 images differently cropped and sized. Furthermore, there will also be a limited edition of 30 canvas prints, 30 prints on photographic paper and 40 poster prints with a printed signature on front bottom left hand corner the date the edition became available - Canvas prints and prints on photographic paper are organised and dispatched by Saatchi and available for a short time only. At present editions prints 2 - 5 are available of the hand signed fine art paper prints. "Photography took me on a journey and just wouldn't let me go and it became a bit of an obsession. I believe one has to follow ones heart in photography. It should be a free exploration of anything that catches ones attention. As my journey is taking me to very different places I decided to split myself into two: Katja Lichtermeer is the artist and Katja Heber is an editorial and set photographer (just dispel any confusion). Katja Lichtermeer's inspiration comes mainly from her immediate environment, experiences and encounters and feature various subjects and situations. She uses photography to comment on the human condition. Topics she touched on include impermanence, uncertainty, showing mundane detail in a new light and catching fleeting moments to give them some appreciation. She has been located mostly in London. Further influences come from film, art, philosophy, and of course, photography. One of her themes consists of finding images that naturally occur within our modern- day city environment that are reminiscent of great masters or art movements. Initially she rarely chose to digitally alter images but she has started to experiment with photomontage and the manipulation of images. And she has also started painting and shooting videos. Katja Lichtermeer was born in Germany, but London has been her home for most of her life. All art on this site is copyrighted.
