VIEW IN MY ROOM
Salpuri is a traditional Korean dance that is often performed during shamanistic rituals. It is characterized by its slow, graceful movements and its use of a long white cloth, which is used to represent a variety of things, such as a river or the spirits of the dead. The dance is believed to have originated in the shamanic rituals of the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo, and it has been passed down through the generations as a cultural tradition. In Korean, the dancer wears a hanbok, which is a traditional Korean dress. The dance is performed to the sound of traditional Korean music, such as the janggu drum, the buk drum, and the daegeum flute. The movements of Salpuri are meant to express the emotions of the performer, such as sadness, joy, or anger. The dance is often used to symbolize the journey of the soul, as it moves from life to death and beyond. Today, Salpuri is still performed in Korea, both as a traditional dance and as a way of connecting with the country's rich cultural heritage. It is also sometimes performed in other parts of the world, as a way of sharing Korean culture with a wider audience. © 2022 Hwan Kim . All rights reserved. Photography is a holy and humble record of history and humanity. If it is not recorded, no one will remember it. And if there is no record, they make an argument for each other's imagination. For a long time, I have been shooting with a focus on humans and rituals. Due to the development of modernization and civilization around the world, the native culture originally brought by humans is rapidly disappearing. The filming approach is attempted with ethnographic images. I am researching and filming the rituals, folklore, festivals and religious secrets of Korea, Japan, Nepal, Indonesia, Bali, Ladakh, and North India
