Handmade cork stool. Colored stool designed and built by Graziella and Lorenzo Coi. The “Mesicheddos” series was created by reinterpreting a typical and ancient seat of central Sardinia, called “mesicheddu”, carried out by recovering a habit now almost lost to the slow and painstaking manual processing of simple and ecological materials. The seat is made up of pieces of cork, extracted from the bark of millenary trees, treated and assembled with wooden nails.

She is an Italian artist, designer and architect. Born in Sardinia (Orani - NU), for twenty years she has been living and working in Florence. Currently, she has been working in Milan. She started painting when she was very young, at the age of 10. During her artistic research has been using various art techniques and medium: painting, collage and computer graphic; tempera and acrylic. Colours and shapes are always the characteristic mark of her works. She is a polymath person and her sense of creativity has been leading her to experiment with new usability of natural materials, as cork and raffia. She has invented a peculiar hand-weaving, created threading coloured raffia through a needle on canvas. The slow creation of the raffia surface, hand-made with patience, is a painstaking work to think about the passing of time and its value.
