This sculpture is inspired by the beauty of my local beech woodland. The woods follow the Cotswold hills escarpment that nestle the town of Dursley. Primarily the woodlands consists of ancient Beech fringed by many other species. This piece includes 5 species, Oak, hazel, ash, cherry and beech. Each tree type was chosen to share a characteristic common to all and yet, also reflect some common infinitely different forms, ever present and ever changing. To emphasise the point the bark has been stripped to the cambium of each component, thus, emotionally it's rather like looking at a group of people without clothes, the lack of embellishment emphasises the surface form.
