About The Artwork
Babies miss out on the vital human contact necessary to build healthy attachments when they are neglected. When neural pathways are not properly developed, they can grow up feeling anxious, unwanted, unlovable and unworthy of affection, which can result in stress, anger and challenging behaviour. These theraputic bootees could be worn by a twelve year old. The curved soles are designed to gently rock the child, in an attempt to reinstate connections in the brain. Rock-a-bye-baby is hand embroidered as a reminder of the soothing qualifies of lullabies but also refers to non accidental injury. They were constructed from an outgrown jumper donated by an adoptee.
