The Chess Game Drawing

After visiting an exhibiion by Burne- Jones I was reminded of my own youthful desire to create epic art on an epic scale. Physical space does allow me this luxury but I returned to looking at some art work of my youth my father had destroyed in a fit of rage and I used these images in the form of photos aswell as sketch book drawings as a starting point for a triptych drawing of what I see as the challenges of our times. Greed means that climate change causing mass migration is ignored; while the game of chess continues as people are marginalised according to their status. The universe continues to produce wonders however which the fountain and stars represent; but few see it, all intoxicated by their own needs. The challenge is to see the big picture and manoeuvre the chess pieces so that they facilitate the whole, rather than tear it apart.Part of the chess board has sunk on the right side, suggesting the world is in jeopardy.
