Hans van Asch (Dordrecht, 1964) is an artist who uses photography to visualize his ideas. The objects he photographs wrestle from their original function and lose their effectiveness. They become practically meaningless, dematerialized and at the mercy of art. In this apparent meaninglessness, the artist finds his ground for creating work and displays his critical capacity with regard to manufacturability and efficiency in the dominating materialistic world around us.
