Classical busts seem to be everywhere in design today—that is, once you know to look for them. Lately, they've made appearances in a slew of yearly trend reports. When you make it you make it yours--absolutely no one else will have one like it on their desk, sideboard, or dressing room. Inspired by the Hindu goddess Ushas (Dawn), the sculpture intends to greet the dark days and thus urge forth sun, light and warmth. In Hindu mythology Ushas (Dawn) is depicted as a young woman driving her chariot across the sky, carrying behind her light as well as hope, happiness, riches, and all good things.

My art follows the female form through time, culture, history and myth. Since my early school days I decided it was rather upsetting that in history books, there were no stories about women. Consequently I devoted myself --from the beginning of my consciousness and creativity - to bring the stories and images of women to the forefront in my art and writing. I am interested in their beauty, strength, ability to spring back, courage and playfulness. The women in my extended family were no-nonsense ladies who all worked. I had good teachers. I am a multi-disciplined artist: I write, sculpt, print and paint. Most all of my work is done with paper.
