Gianluca Vassallo

Gianluca Vassallo is an Italian contemporary artist based in Sardinia. His work examines social dimensions of art through photography, video and installations. He's been producing and composing for film, theatre and dance companies for 15 years. The exhibition "Sapere Avvenire" for Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli (PAN) kickstarted his artistic career in 2010. Vassallo is currently known in the Italian art scene as one of the emerging contemporary artists to watch.
Curators of his work were: Sonia Borsato, Ivo Serafino Fenu, Veronica Caciolli, Maria D'Ambrosio, Peter Waiermaier, Marina Vergiani.

Gianluca Vassallo is a Sardinian (Italy) based contemporary artist whose work investigates social dimensions of art.

After finishing his studies and after 15 years experience in producing and composing for cinema, theatre and dance companies, he launched his photographer career in 2010 with the exhibition "Sapere Avvenire" for Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli (PAN). In few years Vassallo was soon known as one of the leading sardinian contemporary photographers in Italy.

Other works:
2011 publishes a serie "Photomoleskine: Visible Notes from Contemporary Sardinia", for the leading newspaper of Sardinia, La Nuova Sardegna.

2012 publishes three books; "New York e Altre Metafore" (Soter Editrice), "B Side: Postcards from Outskirt / Alghero" (Fondazione Meta) and "Novecento" (Soter Editrice).

2012 Premio Terna selected with "B Side: Postcards from Outskirt".

Dicember 2012 and January 2013 exhibition in MART, Rovereto, Italy with "Site Specific! DentroInside", and in same period sets up an Exhibition/Performance in Sardinia, Italy “Pubblico: Individuo, Cosa Pubblica, Pubblici Individui” with an incredible succes.
