Adit Goschalk is a London based artist who delves deep into female identity in our media-driven world. She is inspired by advertising imagery and uses this to consider how images of women within society are manufactured, commodified, and used to sell. Adit's work mirrors the airbrushed representation of women in the pages of glossy magazines, flattening all blemishes and imperfections with bright expanses of rich colour. Words and phrases often emerge through, threatening to spill out, however they remain submerged in colour and blurred by the water in the paint. Adit uses art to highlight and challenge the conflicts in her own life as well as for women and men in wider society; the constant struggle to match up to a world of idealised images and suppressed imperfections.
