Takao Aoyama was born in Tokyo, and after graduating from Waseda University, he started his career as a graphic designer in 2001 and achieved success in the advertising industry. Up to now, he have created works for a variety of client requests. But in the last few years he has started to create artworks to express his own subjectivity. He is obsessed with the eyes. Ever since he was a little, he has always been drawing pictures of the eyes. He believes that the human soul resides in the eyes. and the eyes express human emotions more than the words that come out of their mouths. He draws the eyes to attempt to process the intensity and profound strangeness of the human emotions. Instead of focusing on literal representations of the world, he depicts the surreal and abstract qualities of our subjectivity with the goal of creating works with a deep emotional resonance.
