Original drawing on Fabriano Art Paper, 140gsm. Harderwijk is a "Hanze stad", which means it was on a trade route situated around the "Ijsselmeer", an inner lake, in The Netherlands. It's famous for it's eel, and other smoked fishes, and Dolfinarium, the Dutch version of SeaWorld. The house portrayed is centuries old, and directly behind the still existing defense wall.

I grew up on a farm in The Netherlands, and this instilled a love of nature in me. I love drawing farm houses, barns, and landscapes. The other love is animals. I illustrate for my own poetry, which is generally in a cartoonish fashion. These pictures are also used for flashcards in EFL teaching. I resided in Hong Kong for 16 years with my wife and two children. I do not really have adequate time for long painting sessions, as I teach part-time, coach teachers, write scripts and have a household to run, but I do what I can. My personal preferences are pencil and gouache at the moment.
