About The Artwork
The painting belongs to the two-part series "Patterns". While "Vision" roughly depicts the background pattern, "Justice" with its intricate details in the background shows the fine chasing of the legal system. This oilpainting is also based on a bust. However, the figure does not look at us: Justice is supposed to be undistracted by appearances due to her blindness and thus serve justice. The painting is deliberately unfinished: the canvas is allowed to shine through in the hair. Thisis because the legal system cannot be "finished", it must constantly adapt to changing circumstances in order to be able to actually administer justice.
