Inspired by the color and design of the luna moth, which I thought embodies the spirit of the night. Luna moths only live for 7-10 days, I wanted to capture the transient nature of their life. I used a deep phthalo and ultramarine blue for the background and contrasted it with green hues on the leaf.

Adam Norgaard (b. 1991) is an American artist working in Japan for the past 9 years. His works reflect the process of adapting to a culture different from his own. Working with oils as his main medium, he remains playful while also maintaining a finished quality. Adam attempts to bring the viewers into a foreign environment of their own by the atmosphere depicted in his paintings. In his own practice he is working at deviating from references and attempting to work completely from his imagination.
