I’m an artist working in Japan for the past 6 years. My paintings are influenced by the sensation of culture shock and outcast that I experienced when I first lived abroad. I try to bring the viewers into a similar feeling of foreignness by the atmosphere of some of my paintings. I like to introduce notes of chaos into the beauty of the painting - such as unexpected hues of color that accent specific features. I enjoy experimenting with my work. I often use concepts or figures that I saw in a dream or thought about. In art school I often worked with references. In my own practice I’m deviating from references and try to work completely from my own imagination. I hope that you’ll enjoy my work.
