What I’ like to tell about myself is very little or, one can say, close to nothing. After all, my intention here is not to present myself but my artworks, my paintings. Therefore, elaborating on how many universities I finished – be that 2 or 3 – would make no sense at all. I will limit myself to stating net I finished an Academy in Berlin, a university in Tel Aviv, plus some more. For more than 30 years now, I’ve been intensely working in painting. I love the colors, and they seem to love me. For the last 2-3 years, I have dedicated myself to a new direction in art, which has matured over time and found its expression in my latest paintings: I discovered for myself a passion for working with handwritten manuscripts. I would do my own paintings on top of those handwritten originals (texts, drawings, telegrams, notes, etc.) First, I would copy those handwritings to canvas and then write my own paintings on top of that. It all started with a dream I once had, where Muhammad Ibn Arabi appeared in front of me and invited me to study his works. And it was quite a way to go for me in search for a way of studying works in Arab language without knowing it. This proposal would go around in my head for a long time, and, finally, I found a way of how to deal with it by working with handwritten texts. All the things that surround us are part of an energy field, and I felt there are ways of communication different from those we have been used to. As the project went on, I included other persons to work with their handwritings. When painting, I would feel the presence of the person whose manuscripts I am working with – no matter this would be Coco Chanel, Leonardo da Vinci or anyone else one might think of. And, all the time while working on someone’s manuscripts, I would be mentally communicating with, feel the support and never-ending gratitude for those people. Every day, I can watch them looking at me from the portraits on my studio wall, and it would make me smile. The second facet of the new direction in my creative efforts is working with top luxury brands, which appeared rather subconsciously and, I think, cannot be explained. It is not simply because this would be a fashionable thing to do, but because it is a passion that would not let me go, and for me there’s no other way. As for true love, there is no explanation for all these things – it’s simply passion.
