Drawing, Ink on Paper
Size: 22 W x 30 H x 0.1 D in
Ships in a Tube
I made this work on Fabriano paper "Unica", a very good quality paper for art printing. I used black and white rotring ink with brush and isograph pen. The inspiration for this work comes from the reading of the Italian translation of DMT: The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman. The number 444 refers to the cabalistic gematria of the word DMT composed by the letters Dalet = 4 Mem = 40 Tav = 400. I ship the original rolled in a special tube for shipping.

I was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1967 and I still live here. My approach to art could be called punk, above all where this coincides with the philosophy of DIY and with the breaking of pre-existing schemes. To play in a punk band did not need to have done the conservatory or have studied music theory, it was enough to pick up the instrument and play, starting from the concrete, from the practice. I did the same with painting and drawing, I did not study, I did not do any school, I do not have any diploma or academic recognition to boast, I do not know the history of art. I know only what I meet on my way and that I like it, the rest I ignore. I do not care to fill the hard disk of my mind with a thousand scholarly notions, rather I consider erudition a useless exercise. Knowledge of the truth is not found in books. My art comes from the soul and the bowels, it is something that manifests itself as an instinctive, primordial need, perhaps the same need that prompted primitive men to paint and engrave the walls of the caves. My art is a necessity, an inner push that if left unexpressed would lead to illness. It is spontaneous and in a certain sense therapeutic. I make art so as not to die inside, not to go crazy, so as not to be overwhelmed and engulfed by the mediocrity of that reality that would impose governments, the media, the school, the common thought from above. I try to get out of the scheme Produce,Consume,Die. My art is a scream with which I try to wake up and wake up you, a scream of rejection of that reality with which we are infecting our minds. I refuse to give in to a reality that always wants us to struggle, I refuse division, I reject fear, prevarication, the logic of "mors tua vita mea, I reject every fascist attempt to control consciences. Sometimes I start from an idea, a vision, a symbol, a sketch, other times I simply let the hand go by itself, in a sort of automatic writing that manifests the contents of the unconscious, often the rooms of the unconscious are dark, unhealthy, subterranean and populated with monsters but in this consists the "therapy" watching the leviathans who are stirring in our deepest waters. Music has always been one of the fundamental components of my life, and I can certainly declare that it has saved my life and it is still now one of my main sources of inspiration and pleasure.
