ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The work “Death Of A City” was created by the artist during early days of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. It is a representation of the dying of cities as the population fled overnight from high density urban areas. The work is layered and has texture, using photography of New York City which acts as the backdrop, then application of paint which includes oils, acrylics, spray to provide texture and illumination. Its symbolic value is how our man made great cities can be eradicated of life and left unrecognisable once the people who give it life are gone. The artist used whatever mediums were available to create this work at a time when supplies were limited. It is a large piece of work hanging in a solid dark wood frame, a beautiful addition to any room. This piece was first exhibited at the Deansgate Square exhibition in 2022.
