ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In "Hi Mrs. March, is Kathryn Home?," I explore the rich tapestry of memories and emotions embedded in everyday objects. This vintage rotary telephone, meticulously adorned with vintage and repurposed earrings and jewelry, becomes a vessel for nostalgia and a testament to the passage of time. Each earring and piece of jewelry carries its own history, hinting at countless stories of joy, sorrow, love, and loss. I am captivated by the idea of using items from the past to create thought-provoking art. How many people wore these earrings? How many bits of good and bad news were received on this phone? How many secrets were shared, tears spilled, and laughs echoed through the years? By repurposing these objects, I aim to spark reflections on the interconnectedness of our experiences and the silent witnesses to our personal histories. This piece is a tribute to the lives lived and the memories cherished, inviting viewers to ponder their own connections to the past.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My mixed media pieces are made of found objects, repurposed hardware, and old treasures. I source my materials from flea markets, estate sales, antique shops, and donations, delighting in the hunt for unique items that have been forgotten or discarded. Each object I find carries its own history and character, which I carefully consider as I decide how it will fit into my work. Mindfully selecting each piece is a very meditative process for me. Much like a painter choosing their colors, I take my time sifting through my collection of materials in my studio, looking for the perfect elements to bring my vision to life. This process allows me to connect deeply with each item, understanding its past and imagining its potential within a new context. Reusing and repurposing materials is central to my practice. I believe in the importance of leaving no waste behind, and I strive to give every part of an item a new purpose. By transforming these forgotten objects into meaningful artworks, I am able to breathe new life into them, allowing them to tell new stories and evoke new emotions. My work is not just about the physical act of creation; it’s also about the journey of discovery and transformation. Each piece I create is a reflection of my belief that beauty can be found in the overlooked and the discarded. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to see the potential in the mundane and the forgotten, and to appreciate the value of repurposing and renewal.
