For each identity that she appropriates, the artist assumes some point of similarity between herself and a chosen character,
This point of similarity allows her to  rewrite different stories for your art,
becomes a point of departure, as the fanciful world of illusion begets a delicate new form of realism. Removed from but still reverent of their original source material, the paintings glow with new life, Cris’s way of looking not only backward to look forward, but of transmitting her own fascination with the exegesis of legend. 
Inspired by a variety of sources, from old masters to present day, Cris conjoins components while constructing her own story .
Working predominantly on a smaller scale, Cris Monteiro’s paintings, often watercolour on paper.
Cris Monteiro approaches her process of painting as an investigative practice where colour has remained a constant importance and she plays with the idea that painting becomes a form of storytelling.
Cris captures his subjects with harmony yet controlled brushwork; working ‘alla prima’.

She is an Italian-Brazilian painter, she received a BFA, currently lives and works in Milan
