Deborah spent over ten years working as a freelance portrait/reportage photographer before experimenting with glass. Inspired by everyday scenes, much of her work is based on photographs documenting the regeneration in East London over the past 20years. By focusing on stark buildings and altering the scale or perspective, these images take on a new form. Other works depict more peaceful images of forests, beaches and landscapes. Lighting, whether artificial or natural, is integral in creating a somewhat fantastical representation of what is otherwise an ordinary scene.
She works from her studio near her home in East London.
Began working as an assistant photographer at the age of 18 and continued to learn on the job. After numerous years in photography, first assisting and then doing her own freelance work, she began experimenting with glass.
Graduated 2003 from Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design in Glass & Fine Art and Glass & Architecture.
Awarded the William De Morgan Travel Award 2002 and the Chase Charity Award 2003.
