Rose Wood

The core of my work revolves around the human condition, with a particular focus on the female figure as a symbol of the passage of time, emotional depth, and love—elements that deeply resonate with my life as a wife and mother. My artistic journey began with a BA Honours in Fine Art from the University of Hertfordshire in 1997, followed by a Master’s degree in 2006. From my earliest paintings, I have been drawn to exploring the emotional aspects of life, a theme that has consistently shaped my work.

The ability to convey these emotions through painting is what drives me into the studio every day. I find profound inspiration in the human figure, striving to create windows into moments that transcend time and space. My goal is to capture the timeless and universal essence of these moments. While my work has evolved toward greater abstraction, the emotional narrative remains central, allowing me to express something deeply personal yet universally relatable.
