I never studied painting. I discovered it, the way anyone discovers a language they were already fluent in. My subject is the unspoken: how we feel, how we think, how we exist together. I don't translate that into sentences. I translate it into gesture.
My materials refuse tradition, burned motor oil, industrial oxides, synthetic compounds beside raw pigment from the earth. I'm not illustrating an idea. I'm letting matter tell the truth before language gets in the way.
