Andrea Finck

Andrea Finck is a German artist working with painting, etching and plant‑based printmaking. Her practice focuses on landscape, memory and archaeological layers, exploring how traces, sediments and human intervention shape visual space. Trained in Classical Archaeology, she approaches material as a site of time and transformation. Finck lives and works near the Elbe in northern Germany.
Kurt Beers (London) described Andrea Finck’s work as operating in a space where material, memory and excavation meet. He notes that her paintings carry a sense of geological depth, as if each surface has been shaped by time, sediment and the slow accumulation of pigment. “Each layer seems to carry the memory of an earlier state, creating works that feel excavated as much as painted.” This sense of uncovering — of revealing something ancient within a contemporary surface — is central to her practice.
