I am an interdisciplinary artist, but painting was always my biggest love and my main artistic language. My practice is narrative and autobiographical, moving between painting, drawing, installation, visual poetry and performance. I often think of every artwork as a kind of self-portrait — not a portrait of my appearance, but a record of an emotional state, an experience or something I am still trying to understand. I work intuitively and through layers, combining pigment, oil and acrylic paint, charcoal, pastel, wax, textiles and natural materials. Handwriting and poetry often enter the work as another form of drawing, carrying thoughts and memories across the surface.
My ongoing body of work, Beyond Uncertainty, grew out of my experience of living between places and negotiating questions of identity, migration and belonging. It has developed through painting, drawing, sculpture, sound and performance, and continues to change as I do. I am interested in uncertainty not simply as something to overcome, but as a space in which we can transform, remember, let go and imagine new ways of belonging
