Lorenzo Sperzaga

"What matters is not the result, the product, but only my quality of being during work. Painting is a school for living. I sit down to paint and my total attention fills every single action: I hold the brush, I I dip in the colour, I mix it with the thinner, I control the quantity, fluidity, the hand brings the brush towards the canvas... etc. I use my will only to capture every distraction, I also fill that with full attention: I see it dissolve, I am again in my work. Even looking is an action full of essence, complete with everything, total."

Lorenzo Sperzaga was born in Cremona on 9 January 1979. He graduated from the L.Respighi scientific high school in Piacenza in 1998 and then attended the N.A.B.A. academy of fine arts in Milan. until he graduated in 2003. He immediately showed a strong inclination towards the figure and symbolism.
After the guidance received during the academy of the famous minimalist painter Claudio Olivieri, Sperzaga continued a comparison until 2010 under the example of the painter Emanuele Mocarelli, combining artistic activity with an intense spiritual journey.
At the end of his studies, while continuing to live in Milan, he worked first in the contemporary art restoration studio of Renata Kness, and then in the framing laboratory of Aldo Isgrò (brother of the famous artist Emilio). He thus had the opportunity to study and perfect his technique by comparing himself with the great artists of the 20th century whose works he had the opportunity to examine closely. At the same time, Sperzaga accompanied him with an intense theatrical activity, which would also characteristically influence his pictorial production of those years.
