Anne-Marie Verdel

As a child I lived in tropical Borneo, instilling in me a great love for nature, animals, forests, sunsets and the sea. We moved back to the Netherlands when I was almost ten, and as an adult lived in China, Singapore and Paris. At the moment I live next to the forests in the Netherlands. I am inspired by my dreams, trying to capture the symbols and messages I dream about onto canvas and creating new worlds.

Throughout my life I learnt the craft of painting by attending art schools in Leiden, Haarlem and Paris. After an international business career, I decided to follow my heart and be a fulltime painter.

My paintings are figurative, and my technique has evolved throughout the years from realistic to a more impressionist style, especially in the playing field between subject and background.
