Hynek Barak

MgA. Hynek Barak, DiS. (1990) is a graduate of Petr Kvíčala's painting studio at FaVU BUT and Higher vocational school of restoration in Brno. The work of Hynek Bařák is characterized by the interweaving of realistic figural motifs and layered color ornamentation, by which the formats are connected into a compactly processed surface. In his works, he is greatly inspired by antiquity and the Middle Ages, which has a great influence on his work. It is a period in which he is actively interested and has accompanied him practically since childhood. The paintings mainly feature motifs of knightly armor, medieval artefacts and motifs that are essential and such cornerstones of his work. Armor is fascinated for its technical perfection, ornamentation and majesty in the later period of the Middle Ages. Actually, the armor no longer fulfilled only a protective function, but also a representative one, and we can consider it as a work of art itself, a sculpture. Visually, he mainly draws on historical inspirations, which, among other things, are manifested in his works in ornamental, dramatic handwriting or historicizing paraphrases.
