Courtenay Kusitor

Courtenay Kusitor’s work is a meditation on consciousness and the ever-moving experience of being. Through abstraction, digital experimentation, colour and gesture, she explores the intangible, mapping the space between thought, form and movement. Working with oil paints and inks on heavy handmade cotton rag or canvas, her practice becomes a reflection of inner and outer awareness. A visual expression of how energy shifts through and around us, shaping how we perceive reality.

As a trained graphic designer and a lover of new technology, sci-fi and surrealism, Courtenay’s approach is rooted in constant experimentation. Her digital artworks run alongside her traditional painting process, each informing the other.

After being unconscious for three minutes following a life-threatening accident, her entire practice became an act of faith in the unknown. Her work evolves quickly, shaped by whatever thoughts and themes are present at that time. During recovery from a severe head and spine injury, she spent nearly a year immersed in TED Talks, audiobooks and podcasts - a ritual that remains at the heart of her creativity today. These audio explorations continue to influence both the tone of her work and the titles they eventually carry.
