Mark Milnes

Born Staincliffe, West Yorkshire. Currently lives and works in Cleckheaton, near Bradford.

I currently make wood sculptures and wall-mounted relief pieces, as well as occasional oil paintings and drawings. The work is always abstract and geometric, and has mostly been focused around the repetition or rhythmical progression of identical geometric units. More recently I have been concerned with the overlap and interplay of patterns in the built environment; this has provided a beginning for new pieces, rather than a direct source of imagery for the work. In the near future I will begin a series of welded metal sculptures, following a successful funding application to The Arts Council, England.

Completed degree in Fine Art at Bretton Hall (College of the University of Leeds) in 1995. Has since completed a second degree in Art History at Open University. Has exhibited widely over past ten years, and is currently an associate member of both the Royal British Society of Sculptors (RBS) and National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers (NS).,
