Artist Bio — Olaniyi Timothy (b. 2003)

Young, multidisciplinary, and exquisite, Olaniyi Timothy (b. 2003) is an emerging Nigerian artist from Oyo, Oyo State, whose work embodies resilience, spirituality, and the beauty of African identity. His passion for art was ignited in childhood, inspired by his elder sister’s creative practice. Observing her artistic process nurtured his own curiosity and inspired a lifelong dedication to the visual arts.

To refine his craft, Olaniyi apprenticed under a renowned local artist, where he developed a strong technical foundation and began to cultivate his distinct voice. Currently pursuing a degree in Fine and Applied Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, he continues to expand his creative expression through exploration, study, and experimentation.

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Olaniyi employs a unique form of impasto realism — a richly textured approach that celebrates the depth, tone, and vitality of African skin. His portraitures transcend mere representation, exploring themes of resilience, faith, and hope amidst adversity.
