Shelly Murney

Shelly Murney lives and works in eastern Washington State, United States. Murney is a full time lecturer at Eastern Washington University and the photography area head.

She has a house that is powered by photo voltaics and a car that runs on waste vegetable oil.

Through my work, I look to examine the cycle of consumption and explore the affect it has on our environment. As a nation of consumers, we continue to encroach further and further upon the very ecological systems that support life on this planet: open water and wetlands, air, forests, topsoil. I hope to transcend the disconnection suburbia cultivates and represent the landscape as a valued, personal space rather than an expendable commodity.
