I am a retired high school art teacher and now a full time artist. I live in a very rural, wild and beautiful part of British Columbia, BC, Canada. I have been labelled an intuitive transformative artist which seems as good a label as any.
I work primarily from inner vision; dreams, and meditation which evolve into ideas, stories and lots of thoughts on our human relationship to spirit and consciousness.
The power of the mountains, the lake and the local animals appear in my work either as my neighbours or as symbols of our inner life. The birds that appear in my work often represents spirit; soaring, rising and seeing all from above.
Most days I go to my studio to work, listening, noticing, accepting and following the threads that fascinate me and give me energy. I offer the artifacts of these journeys and hope that they might help connect others to their own threads and stories of their lives.
I graduated from University of Calgary in 1972 with a B.Ed Art Major. I spent the following winter studying sculpture at Belles Artes, San Miguel, Mexico. Since then I have taken many art courses over the years including some at University of Victoria and at Emily Carr University. I have spent many winters living and painting in Mexico.
Recently I have been a part of a few interesting and exciting events. Leoni Art puts on shows all over the world, gathering artists to work on a theme or topic; I had piece In a show in Milan Italy and another in Mexico. Last year I was one of the featured artists in The Psychedelic Show in Toronto which was a dynamic fair lasting 3 months.
